For the fortunate child

Are you a youngster?  Do you have someone in your life who believes in exposing you to the arts?  Then you are very lucky.  And if you live in the Milwaukee area, even better!  Because we have a fun Saturday for you!  To begin with, ask your wonderful adult to bring you here to the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, where we open our First Steps season with AESOP'S FABLES.  You will love it. Your adult will too.  Both of you will look at each other and laugh.  Later on, you will look at each other and laugh again, remembering it.  Then you will each tell your friends to see it.

After you've giggled your way through our delightful show, ask your adult to drive you west to the Marcus Ridge Cinema in New Berlin.  The Milwaukee Children's Film Festival will be screening the film Azur & Asmar.  First Stage Education Director Julia Magnasco is co-director of this first-ever festival, and she says, "Go see this!  You will love it!  There's a quest.  And it's not babyish at all!"  Assure that dear adult by your side that the film is stylistically gorgeous and will appeal to people ages five to forty-five.  Following the film, Miss Julia will lead a free family workshop where you will get creative and have fun while your adult discusses the undercurrent of prejudice that made the message of Azur & Asmar so relevant.  It'll be great!

Then buy your adult an ice cream cone.  Or a latte.  And say thank you for an awesome day.  Because you are lucky.  And so is your adult.  We are too, actually.  Thank you for reading and thank you in advance for coming to these shows!
