Providing the Best with Children’s Wisconsin

The partnership First Stage has with Children’s Wisconsin is one of our longest standing—dating back to 1998. Sharing an interest in the well-being of children, both of our organizations work to provide the best for young people in our region.

First Stage provides the best in theater productions and programming to inspire and educate youth and families; and Children’s Wisconsin ensures that every child and family they serve receives nothing but the best through a wide range of care and support.

 

When First Stage made the difficult decision to not produce any live Theater Productions in 2020/2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Children’s Wisconsin enthusiastically stepped up to support our first venture into the world of virtual Theater Productions. They generously sponsored Through Our Lens, our season of virtual Theater Productions, and together, we developed a mutually beneficial partnership.

 

Children’s Wisconsin not only helped First Stage to acquire the necessary equipment to create our virtual productions, but they also played a pivotal role in enabling our organization to continue to fulfill our mission of transforming lives through theater during this very challenging time. At the same time, First Stage was delighted to share our season of virtual Theater Productions as well as our Theater in Education workshops and Theater Academy Intro to Acting series through the closed circuit TV channels Children’s Wisconsin has throughout their full hospital—providing access to all of their patient beds/rooms.

 

Certified Child Life Specialist, Macy Connors, MS, CCLS from Children’s Wisconsin shared what it has been like to be able to share First Stage with the patients and families they serve.

 

“First Stage has provided us with various programs that our patients and families not only enjoy, but that are also being utilized for calming and normalization. For instance, I had a patient on my unit who was playing the First Stage performances on her closed circuit TV and stated that it really helped her ‘feel like she was out of the hospital.’

 

In addition to streaming your Theater Productions through our closed circuit TV, Children’s Wisconsin has also shared your programs at our annual Winter Carnival and State Fair events this past year—both of which were virtual.

 

Thanks to First Stage, your programming allows us to reach all of our patients and families and provide a healing environment for them while they are going through treatment and healing. We are so grateful for our partnership and all First Stage provides for us and our patients and families. It truly makes an impact!”
